We are doing a flash fundraiser to help with the major expenses for the Spring Show this year. We are selling from catalogs containing food/candy items as well as bags! Everything will be due THIS Friday!!! We have to have a fast turn around in order to get the items back on time!
A big “Thank you!” to those of you who helped in our preparation for LGPE! Whether you were brave enough to chaperone or even simply help your student put their uniform together, involvement in any way helped us tremendously. Our event occurred last Thursday and was a success! 6th-8th grade all received Excellent (2) and Superior (1) ratings. In sight reading, the 8th grade received an Excellent (2) and 7th grade received a Superior (1)! 6th grade did not participate in sight reading this year due to issues with transportation, but they will be making it up this Thursday as they sight read in class for a judge in a mock sight reading evaluation! On to the Spring Show!

Hi Parents! This is a quick email reminder about the Pre-LGPE Concert happening next Tuesday. This event will start at 6:00 PM at the Coweta Performing Arts Centre located at 1523 Lower Fayetteville Road, Newnan, GA 30265. All Evans students must arrive no later than 5:55 in order to be seated in their correct spots in the audience by 6:00 PM. This concert will run from 6:00- 7:30 PM and will include performances from groups at Madras, Smokey Road, and Evans Middle School. Because this is a concert meant to prepare the students for Large Group Performance Evaluation (LGPE) happening on Thursday, March 26th, the program will rotate choirs every ten minutes starting with 6th grade from each school and ending with 8th grade from the same. Evans 6th grade will be performing at 6:20, Evans 7th at 6:50, and Evans 8th grade performing at 7:20. Student attendance is MANDATORY AND PART OF THEIR GRADE. If there is an issue regarding student attendance, I must receive some sort of communication from a parent explaining why the student will not be in attendance in order for the student to receive a makeup assignment. I still need some volunteers to sit with the grades and help keep them quiet during the concert. If you are interested, please email me!!! Actual LGPE: EMS choirs will be traveling to Harps Crossing Baptist Church in Fayetteville, GA on Thursday, March 26th. We will be leaving early in the morning and will be back at the school before dismissal. Please look to the required uniform list to make sure all parts of the uniform are on hand. All students must bring their own LABELED lunches with them to the church. Lunch will not be provided, but school sack lunches are available upon request (to be marked on field trip packet). Field trip packets must be signed by a parent/guardian in order for your student to attend. These packets will be sent home next week. I AM IN DESPERATE NEED OF PARENTS TO CHAPERONE LGPE!!!!! If you are interested and have not already contacted me, please send me an e-mail at [email protected]. In order for students to participate in LGPE, they must be “invited” by me. In order to be invited, the student must actively participate in music rehearsal and sight reading. Students are fully aware of what is expected of them in order to get invited. This is approach is not meant to prevent students from going, but to ensure that we have hard working students representing Evans Chorus well. Hopefully, we can have all students in attendance! However, if your student is not invited (unwilling to participate, behave, and/or represent Evans in a proper manner) there will be an alternate writing assignment left with a substitute they must complete during class the day of LGPE. Thank you, Chandler Scott Chorus Director Evans Middle School If you wanted a recording of a good choir singing "Ton The" to practice to... here ya go! Here is the Georgia All-State Treble Chorus from 2011 singing "Manx Lullaby" as well! |
