Dear Parents and Guardians,
The first 9 weeks is coming to a close and I have quite a few updates and reminders to send your way. This week marks the close to our Chorus fundraiser for this semester. We are working to raise money for a large digital, rehearsal piano that will help further our progress in classes. Our current upright piano is very old with some keys not working. We will have another fundraiser next semester to help raise additional funds for LGPE and various large events costing money as well as music, music library supplies, classroom supplies, and some necessary music software needed for the classroom. The fundraising items should be delivered back to the school in about 3-4 weeks. Please remember while you and your students are collecting the payments to check and make sure all check payments are made payable to Evans Middle School, they have correct addresses, and the check holder’s number is included on the check. I cannot take a check that does not include an updated number. Uniforms: Students recently received their uniforms in 7th and 8th grade. 6th grade uniforms will be delivered and passed out next week. If your student purchased a new black dress, PLEASE pay attention to the care instructions. Recommended care is to hand wash the dress in cold water with gentle detergent and hang dry. NEVER put the dresses in the dryer because the sequins will melt. All dresses both new and used must be hemmed to right above the toe. I recommend hemming tape that can be ironed into the dress… that way the hem can be let out as your student gets taller. Hem tape can be found in stores like Walmart, Target, etc. ALL students (6th, 7th, and 8th) must wear black closed toed shoes with black socks/stockings. Concert: As the concert date approaches, (yes October 22nd) please make sure your student has a ride to the Coweta Performing Arts Centre. They must arrive BEFORE 6:10 in order to run through their songs before the concert in time. This is a mandatory event and will be a very large portion of your student’s grade. If you have any issues getting your student to the event, please let me know. This date has been on the calendar since the beginning of the year, so there are no excuses (yes, this includes sports). IF your student has a legitimate conflict, you must let me know as soon as possible. If they are to miss this performance with a proper excuse, they are to complete a typed alternate assignment to make up the grade they are missing. Chaperone volunteers, I will be emailing you later next week. Any questions can be emailed to me at [email protected] Chandler Scott |
